Macon’s new chief administrative officer started work Monday.
Thomas Thomas comes to the city from Albany, where he was assistant administrator of Dougherty County. He’s taking over the job that Mike Anthony, Macon’s Parks and Recreation director, has performed on an interim basis for the past two years.
Thomas, who was introduced to City Council members attending Monday’s Public Properties Committee meeting, said among his first priorities will be sitting down with each council member as well as with city department heads to assess operations.
“I don’t expect any surprises — I’m just happy to be here,” said Thomas, who has a master’s degree in public administration and has also worked for city governments in Florida and Maryland.
