Skyview Elementary students in Bibb County got to talk with troops on the front lines of Taji, Iraq, through a video conference Friday.
According to a news release from the Freedom Calls Foundation, students spoke to the soldiers 8,000 miles away through a satellite link.
“The chance for your young people to have this contact is an exceptional educational experience for the students in our district,” said DeAnna McKinney, chair of the school’s parent committee. “Because of satellite technology young people can learn first-hand the personal stories of our brave men and women in uniform.”
Skyview students also unveiled their new Wall of Honor, which is pictures of students’ and teachers’ military family members posted on a wall outside the school media center. Skyview is located at 5700 Fulton Mill Road.
