Two pedestrians hit by vehicles across town within minutes of each other

Bibb County sheriff’s deputies and paramedics rushed to two pedestrian accidents that happened in the span of about 45 minutes Thursday night.

According to Macon-Bibb E-911 dispatches, a 17-year-old was hit near 980 Patterson St. at about 7:15 p.m., not far from where 16-year-old Jayvon Sherman was found fatally shot about 12 hours before.

The teen was not believed to be seriously injured in that pedestrian crash.

Within the hour, authorities were called to another pedestrian accident near Ingram Pye Elementary School on Anthony Road.

A 19-year-old was struck by a vehicle there, but was not seriously hurt, said Sgt. Linda Howard, public affairs officer for the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

A school crossing guard was hit near the same school in the spring.
