An armed robbery suspect who fired a shot at a convenience store owner but missed Tuesday afternoon was found a few hours later hiding in an attic, police said.

Wilek Gian Ford, 20, is accused of robbing the Petrol store at 423 General Courtney Hodges Blvd. of an undisclosed amount of cash at 2:40 p.m., Perry police Capt. Heath Dykes said.

Ford fired a single shot at store owner Amitbhai Patel as he fled, but neither Patel or a clerk in the store were hurt, Dykes said.

Ford was found by police hiding in the attic of a friend’s home in a nearby neighborhood a few hours later, Dykes said.

Ford was charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during a crime.

He was being held without bond Wednesday in the Houston County jail.

Anyone with any information about the robbery is asked to call Perry police Detective Jason Jones at 478-338-0260 or 478-988-2824.
