Sgt. Patrick Sondron and Deputy Daryl Smallwood died serving Peach County, but their deaths resonate deep with law enforcement officers across jurisdictions.

The Houston County Sheriff’s Office is raising funds for the families of the fallen officers mortally wounded while answering a call in Byron on Nov. 6.

A flier is posted on the sheriff’s office Facebook page calling on people in Houston to buy $10 tickets for a chicken dinner and contribute to a new fund set up at the Combined Employees Credit Union at 539 Russell Parkway in Warner Robins, GA 31088.

“Houston County, let’s show them what family is,” the post stated.

The dinners will feature a smoked chicken quarter, baked beans, potato salad and a roll and will be available for pickup on Sat. Dec. 10 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Houston County Sheriff’s Office at 202 Carl Vinson Parkway in Warner Robins.
