How long have you been in business?: “Basically, I retired from the GBI after 31 years in 2012 and decided to start a business using some of the skills I developed in that career.”
He was the special agent in charge of the GBI office in Perry for about 15 years.
Occasionally he works with other investigators if a case is larger than he can handle alone.
“I know police all over the world because I spent nine months of my life in residence at the FBI academy both as a student and a leadership fellow. ... I love to travel. The other thing I do is law enforcement instruction. I’ve taught at different police academies, taught at the FBI Academy.”
What do you like best about your job?: “Just the variety. I like that I work for myself after being in a bureaucracy for 31 years, and I’m able to take the cases I want and pursue those. I was in charge of my GBI office, so I was used to being in authority. I’m still in authority, but I’m in authority over me.
What is your specialty?: It’s the investigative aspect of it. ... Basically it’s a consulting business. I have a private detective license and my area of expertise would be reviewing cases, interviewing witnesses, civil and some criminal cases, and I also have done some program assessments. I have a doctorate in public administration, so I not only deal with preparation for trial but can also look at government agencies and identify issues and how to rectify them.”
What are your future plans?: I have intentions of expanding and getting some other retired investigators involved as my workload increases.
