Over a Million Jeep Wrangler, Gladiator Owners Told to Park Outside Due to Fire Risk

You can't miss a Jeep Wrangler or a Gladiator on the road. Whether it's a Wrangler chilling in a driveway or a Gladiator loaded up for a weekend adventure, these hulking boxes on wheels are everywhere – and they're the backbone of the Jeep lineup.
But now, if you own a newer Wrangler or Gladiator, Jeep wants you to park outside "out of an abundance of caution." Not for the fresh air, but because things could get a little too hot for comfort.
In an official statement, Stellantis says that an estimated 1,076,999 Wranglers and Gladiators in the US are on the recall list thanks to a fire risk. Until they figure out a fix, owners are being told to keep their Jeeps away from anything flammable – including your house and your neighbor's shiny new SUV.
A Recall Affecting More Than One Million Vehicles
The recall targets 2021 to 2025 Wranglers and Gladiators, so if your Jeep is fresh off the lot, you might want to pay attention. Jeep's own investigation found a possible electrical gremlin in the wiring of the electric-hydraulic power steering pump. In rare cases, this could make things under the hood get toasty enough to start a fire.
Right now, there's no official fix. Dealers will check the wiring harness and swap out parts if needed, but the full repair plan is still in the works. Stellantis also didn't mention whether any fire incidents led to this recall.
Owners will get a letter when it's time to book a service appointment. Stellantis says a fix should be ready by July. And it's not just an American problem – over 100,000 Jeeps in Canada, nearly 24,000 in Mexico, and another 124,000-plus elsewhere are also affected.
Not the First Wrangler and Gladiator Recall
This isn't the first time Wranglers and Gladiators have been called back to the shop. Remember when manual models were recalled because their clutches got so hot they could catch fire? Yeah, that happened.
The Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid hasn't escaped recall drama either. At one point, hundreds of thousands were called back over battery worries, and owners had to follow a laundry list of parking and charging rules while Jeep sorted things out.
