A new store coming to downtown Macon may suit some people.
Doug White plans to open LDW Haberdashery at 329 Cotton Ave., near Amanda’s Cakery.
The store will offer custom tailored men’s suits and shirts as well as some off-the-rack items, White said. It also will carry shoes, ties and other accessories.
“We could definitely see the growth downtown and we saw a need for businessman’s attire downtown, especially with downtown being the business district,” he said. “Nobody else is doing what we’re doing, which is what I call nice, conservative, permanent fashion.”

The shop would fill a void left after Bowen Brothers closed in January 2014, he said.
White and his father have been in the menswear business about nine years -- his father is a necktie designer -- and have operated LDS Designer Fashions at 3706 Mercer University Drive the past six years.
The downtown store is expected to have a soft opening in about two weeks with an official opening by mid-September. It is expected to be open 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Saturday.
