Macon property rezoned to allow residential development

An 11-acre site off Eisenhower Parkway was approved for rezoning for a residential development Monday by the Macon-Bibb County Planning & Zoning Commission.

The mostly wooded site at 4719 Raley Road was rezoned from an agricultural district to a single-family residential district to allow a cluster development of 19 lots.

The maximum size of the homes would be 2,400 square feet, said Tony Widner, owner of Widner & Associates. Each home would have a minimum of two parking spaces. A 6,000-square-foot clubhouse will be part of the development, and it will include a swimming pool, playground and park.

“This is going to be more of a retirement community for the temple across the street,” Widner said.

The Shree Umiya Mataji Mandir temple is at 4770 Raley Road.

No one spoke at the meeting against the development, and it was unanimously approved.
