Bonaire Kroger celebrates opening of renovated store

The Kroger store in Bonaire will celebrate its opening as a Kroger Marketplace beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

The store at 774 Ga. 96 underwent a 42,000-square-foot expansion, increasing the total size to more than 123,000 square feet.

The renovated store’s new features include Fred Meyer Jewelry, Baby World, Murray’s Cheese Shoppe, a drive-through pharmacy window, an apparel department, an expanded deli and bakery department and an expanded kitchen goods department, according to a release.

The updated Kroger is adding about 150 new jobs to the community.

“Kroger has been a part of the Warner Robins community for nearly 33 years, and is always looking for ways to better serve our customers,” Glynn Jenkins, director of communications and public relations for Kroger’s Atlanta Division, said in the statement.

As part of the celebration, Kroger will donate $250 to each of the following schools: Houston County High School, Veterans High School, Northside High School, Warner Robins High School and Perry High School.

The Fred Meyer Jewelry store will be offering free gift bags to the first 100 people in the store Wednesday and 100 free gift bags each day through June 14. Customers attending the grand opening also will be able to enter a contest to win Kallati earrings valued at $1,995.

Kroger’s Atlanta Division is one of the Southeast’s largest retail grocery chains with more than 185 stores in Georgia, eastern Alabama and South Carolina.
