Midstate counties designated as natural disaster areas due to March freeze

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has designated Crawford, Peach and Taylor counties as a primary natural disaster area due to damages and losses caused by freeze that occurred from March 28-29.

Also, farmers and ranchers in the following Middle Georgia counties also qualify for natural disaster assistance because their counties are contiguous: Bibb, Houston, Monroe and Upson

All counties listed were designated natural disaster areas on May 20, making all qualified farm operators in the designate areas eligible for low interest emergency loans from USDA’s Farm Service Agency, provided eligibility requirements are met.
