Macon’s Carolyn Crayton to be honored by Japanese government

Carolyn Crayton, the founder and former president and CEO of the Macon International Cherry Blossom Festival, will be honored in June by the Japanese government.

Crayton has been awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays by the Japanese Foreign Ministry for her contributions promoting cultural exchange and understanding between Japan and the United States through the festival, according to a news release.

She will be presented the award June 24 at a reception at the official residence of the consul general of Japan in Atlanta.
