As part of Dollar General’s celebration officially opening a store in Juliette on Saturday -- its 12,000th, the company is presenting a donation for $12,000 to the Monroe County school district.
The money is to be used in support of literacy initiatives in the schools and the company’s mission of serving others, according to a news release.
The celebration begins at 8 a.m. at the store at 12253 Highway 87. The first 200 adults in the store will receive $10 Dollar General gift cards and tote bags.
Customers will be able to enter for a chance to win a CD player, DVD player, Energizer basket and a $100 gift card. The Energizer Bunny and Tony the Tiger are expected to make an appearance.
A traditional store employs six to 10 people depending on the need, the release stated. Anyone interested in applying for a job should go to www.dollargeneral.com. The company was founded more than 75 years ago, and it has stores in 43 states.
