Geico to add 200 new workers in Macon

Geico, one of the midstate’s largest private employers, is looking to add to its ranks.

The Macon office is bringing more career opportunities to Middle Georgia by adding 200 new positions in 2015, according to a news release. The jobs will be in sales, service, centralized services and claims. Some are part-time positions in Geico’s emergency roadside service unit.

“Last year we had a really ambitious hiring goal of 500 new associates that we were thrilled to be able to meet,” Rhett Rayburn, Macon Southeast regional vice president, said in the release. “This year we’re keeping our foot on the gas pedal by adding 200 new positions to keep pace with policyholder growth.”

The Macon office, which has more than 5,200 workers, “is the company’s largest business location and provides claims, service and sales counseling for customers in the Midwest and Southeast as well as centralized services for policyholders across the country,” the release stated.

Geico opened the Macon office in 1974, and it has steadily added workers.

Earlier this year, Geico was named the top contributor to United Way of Central Georgia for the 11th year in a row. The company and its employees pledged more than $1.1 million during the 2014 fundraising campaign.

It also provides insurance on boats, all-terrain vehicles and recreational vehicles. Other insurance also is available through non-affiliated insurance companies.
