Five Guys, Jersey Mike’s coming to Warner Robins

Jersey Mike’s Subs and Five Guys Burgers and Fries each plan to open a location in Warner Robins.

The restaurants will both be at 133 Margie Drive across from the Houston County Galleria. The site was formerly the location of El Tapatio, a Mexican restaurant that closed. A new building is under construction in its place, and it will also house a Chipotle Mexican Grill expected to open in July.

Five Guys is taking applications, but an opening date could not be immediately confirmed.

Jersey Mike’s, a sub sandwich shop, expects to open in June, said Jeff Sponsler, the company’s area developer for Georgia.

He said the new location is owned by Danny Rosales, who opened a Jersey Mike’s on Riverside Drive in Macon in October.

Sponsler said Jersey Mike’s is known for using all fresh ingredients, including fresh-baked bread and meats that are sliced on the spot.

He said Rosales has an agreement to open seven additional stores in South Georgia.

One possible location, he said, is next to the Shane’s Rib Shack on Lake Joy Road in Warner Robins, although that hasn’t been confirmed. Rosales owns that Shane’s Rib Shack as well as another Shane’s in Warner Robins.

Five Guys began in Washington, D.C., in 1986 and now has about 1,000 locations nationwide with another 1,500 in development. Five Guys also boasts fresh ingredients and claims its stores do not have freezers because it uses no frozen products.

Jersey Mike’s opened in a single storefront location in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, in 1956, according to a company release. The sandwich shop has about a 1,000 locations nationwide including 42 in Georgia and more under development.
