Entrepreneur’s Academy in Macon to help small business owners

Small business owners have an opportunity to become more knowledgeable about running their companies.

NewTown Macon and SCORE -- a nonprofit business mentoring group -- are hosting an Entrepreneur’s Academy that will include start-up basics, business concepts, marketing plans, financial projections and funding sources, according to a news release. Professionals from across the state will teach the classes.

The five-month course, held 5-8 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month -- except for August -- will begin May 7 and run through October. The first class is free, but the entire program costs $125 each.

“There has long been a need for a program that would help emerging entrepreneurs to better understand what it takes to start a business and how to successfully navigate through the various hurdles, and this program certainly fits that need,” Mike Dyer, President/CEO of the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce, said in the release.
