The clothing store is expected to open May 6 at 464 First St. Heatherly Wakefield, former director of fine art for the Macon Arts Alliance, will be the store manager, according to a news release. All proceeds will benefit Daybreak, Depaul USA’s day/resource center for homeless men and women in Macon.
“Depaul USA is delighted to be (expanding) its programming in Macon with this social enterprise,” Depaul President Charles Levesque said in the release. “Wear will be a ‘thrift with a twist,’ offering shoppers thrift store prices for clothes and accessories in a boutique environment.”
Wear is Depaul USA’s second social enterprise. Its first is a commercial cleaning company in Philadelphia. Depaul USA is a national homeless services organization that, in addition to Daybreak, operates homeless services in Chicago; Little Rock, Arkansas; New Orleans; Philadelphia; and St. Louis.
