Childs joins Morris Bank board of directors
Morris Bank announced the addition of Thad Childs Jr. to its board of directors. Childs has served as the Morris Bank market president in Gray since 2012, but his banking career spans nearly 40 years. Childs is a native of Jones County and his grandfather Dauphin Childs founded the Bank of Gray in 1909.
Georgia couple named national outstanding young farmers
Christopher and Ginger Martin of Hawkinsville were selected national winners at the 59th annual National Outstanding Young Farmers Awards Congress held recently.
Four national winners were selected from a group of 10 finalists for the award.
The couple grow cotton, corn, wheat, peanuts and rye on 3,400 acres near Hawkinsville.
UPS honors Georgia drivers for 25 years of safe driving
United Parcel Service announced 71 elite drivers from Georgia are among 1,445 newly inducted worldwide into the Circle of Honor, an honorary organization for UPS drivers who have achieved 25 or more years of accident-free driving.
Local drivers earning the award are Michael Jones of Macon, Jeffery Jordan of Gray, Steven Dale Mosely of Lizella, Calvin Patterson of Macon, Robert Stephens of Macon and William Weaver of LaGrange.
Georgia boasts 366 active Circle of Honor drivers with a combined 10,392 years of accident-free driving. Guy Haynes of Tifton is the state’s senior safe driver, with 43 years of accident-free driving.
