Lee Insley, co-owner of A-OK Portables LLC, 7105 Hawkinsville Road, Macon, 478-956-1525.
How long have you been in business?: A little more than seven years ago Lee and her husband, Mark, bought an existing business called A&K Porta-Toilets. They changed the name, improved the standards of company employees, upgraded the fleet and added new products and services, Lee Insley said.
“We have grown the company to about seven times its original size. We have added product line and territory. The original A-OK served about seven counties around Middle Georgia, and we currently serve 26 counties in Georgia.”
The company has two full-service yards -- the one in Macon, which recently moved from Byron, and one in Richmond Hill, south of Savannah.
What do you like best about your job?: “First off, it’s never boring. It’s never the same. I love the logistics of it, even though that can be a challenge.”
What is your specialty?: The full-service company handles not only liquid sanitation but also solid waste sanitation for a variety of sites such as construction and special events.
“Our main product is still portable toilets, but we also do roll-off trash containers, (and) we do septic pump outs and installations. We also do speciality items like restroom trailers, handicap toilets, showers and haul fresh water.”
What are your future plans?: “We have acquired a couple of competitors. ... We are in a growth mode. ... Mainly what we do is a volume business and plan to continue to have a steady growth.”
