A free information session to help producers and landowners regarding the latest changes in the 2014 U.S. Farm Bill will be held in Fort Valley on Friday.
Experts from the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency, and USDA Risk Management Agency will discuss changes and answer questions.
This is the first of several meetings around the state that are aimed at helping producers and landowners make key decisions regarding their farming operations. Topics include timelines for decision-making, how payment yields can be updated and how the reallocation of base acres works.
The meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. and conclude with lunch at noon. It will be held at the C.W. Pettigrew Center at Fort Valley State University, 100 State University Drive. Anyone interested in attending should contact their local extension office.
