New mixed-use project planned off Bowman, Bass roads

Plans for a restaurant as part of Bass Plantation off Bowman and Bass roads have been revised.

The property is adjacent to the The Lofts at Bass Plantation, which is a mixed-use development with retail on the ground floor and lofts above.

Original plans for an adjacent 2.77-acre tract called for a restaurant on an existing lake with two smaller restaurants on outparcels.

On Monday, Zan Thompson, owner of ZT3-Placemaker Studio, presented revised plans to the Macon-Bibb County Planning & Zoning Commission that call for a retail/residential project next to the lake similar to The Lofts at Bass Plantation.

An 11,671-square-foot, four-story building would be built on the site with retail and office space on the ground floor and 27 residential units above. The units facing the lake will have small decks.

Plans are to extend a walking trail around the lake which would be open to the public and would likely be used by area office workers, Thompson said.

Two outparcels are still available for fast-food restaurants, he said.
