A new full-service bank office is expected to open on Forsyth Road in Macon early next year.
“We are going to operate here in Macon as OneSouth Bank, a division of the Bank of Early,” said Randy Griffin, executive vice president of the Bank of Early and regional president of OneSouth Bank for Middle Georgia. The Bank of Early is headquartered in Blakely.
Griffin has operated a loan production office for the Bank of Early on Bass Road in north Bibb County since September 2011.
The new full-service bank would be located at 4070 Forsyth Road -- the former location of Central Bank of Georgia and then Ameris Bank.
“Our business plan all along has been to eventually open a full-service bank branch (in Macon),” he said. “So we’ve grown our business here to the point” where it’s ready for a full-service bank office.
The bank has received approval from the Georgia Department of Banking and Finance, and it is waiting for approval from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. before it begins renovations of the building. The building has three drive-thru lanes and one ATM lane.
“Our target is to have the bank branch open as a full-service bank by the first of February,” Griffin said. “It will be a community bank, not a regional bank.”
The four employees in the lending office will move to the new building, and the bank is expected to add four more workers, he said.
OneSouth Financial Inc., the holding company for OneSouth Bank, has a Georgia charter for the Bank of Early with bank branches in Blakely, Dawson and Arlington, and a Florida bank charter for OneSouth Bank in Chipley, Florida.
