A Macon car dealer is looking to open a Nissan dealership and separate collision center on Riverside Drive.
Plans are for Butler Automotive Group to locate the businesses on about 31 acres of land at 4500 Riverside Drive next to the existing Butler Lexus dealership.
The car dealer, along with Carter & Sloope Inc., has filed a conditional-use application with the Macon-Bibb County Planning & Zoning Commission to allow an auto dealership body shop at the site. The topic is expected to be discussed at Monday’s meeting.
The Nissan dealership will include a sales showroom, service and service write-up area totaling about 35,000 square feet. There will be parking for about 470 vehicles on the 11 acre tract, according to the commission’s staff report.

The body shop, Butler Collision Center, will be 28,000 square feet and include 116 parking spaces, the staff report shows. That site will be 5 acres.
Some of the remaining acreage is expected to be used for future development, with the rest appearing to remain vacant, the staff report states.
It was not immediately clear whether the Riverside Drive dealership and collision center would be in addition to the Butler Nissan and Butler Collision Center on Eisenhower Parkway or if they would be changing locations.
The zoning meeting begins at 1:30 p.m. in the 10th floor conference room, Willie C. Hill Government Center Annex, 682 Cherry St.
