Terry Surles, owner, Malone’s Fabric, 2348 Ingleside Ave., 478-745-1466. Hours: 11 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Tuesday-Friday; 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.
How long have you been in business?: A fabric store opened in this location in 1964, and Surles bought it in the late 1960s. Then he got into the wholesale business about 10 years later, and he closed the store for 20 years.
“Then about 10 years ago I opened it back up as a retail business as Malone’s Fabric. I wasn’t going to sell fabric. I was going to sell all the notions I had in the wholesale business. But anyway, I started carrying fabric, and it got bigger and bigger.”
What do you like best about your job?: “I enjoy meeting the public. ... I’ve always liked the retail business. We get a lot of different people.”
