Family-owned Jolly Nut Co., founded in Fort Valley 90 years ago, is planning to close.
“Marking the 90th anniversary of Jolly Nut Company and considering the changes in both my own life and the pecan industry, my family and I have decided to close the doors of this business as of (Monday),” owner Kay Meyer wrote on the business’ Facebook page. “Jolly Nut Company hopes you will celebrate with us this considered decision as our era ends.”
Meyer told The Telegraph in September that she considers her customers her friends.
“We have developed friends all over the country because we consider our customers our friends,” she said.

The business was created in 1924, and Meyer’s father bought it in the late 1940s. Meyer and her husband started running the business in 1975 and began offering mail order and retail services. Meyer continued the business after her father and husband passed away.
