A Verizon Wireless agent is opening a 25,000-square-foot Macon store at 6204 Zebulon Road. The showroom will be located in the storefronts that housed a Citgo gas station and Chen’s Wok Chinese restaurant, both of which closed months ago.

The agent, Jason Myers of Atlanta, said he’s planning an Aug. 15 opening.

Myers said the Macon store will be his 26th showroom. His other locations are spread out across the state.

“Verizon came to us and said they’re looking for a distribution center. This is such a great area,” he said of Zebulon Road. “There’s so much retail and residential.”

Myers said he’ll be hiring six to eight sales representatives and he’s invested $250,000 converting the former gas station and restaurant into a showroom.

Myers is an independent Verizon Wireless agent and said his store will offer the same products and services as company-owned stores, such as Verizon’s locations on Riverside Drive and Eisenhower Parkway.
