FACES & PLACES: Company takes home honors

Struby Construction LLC recently received several honors from the Housing Institute’s Certified Professional Home Builders of Georgia. Awards included the Excellence in Customer Service Award, Customer Satisfaction Award and the 100 percent Customer Recommendation Award. CPHB awards were based on 5,000 surveys conducted by GuildQuality.

Holmes joins Capital City BankDebbie Holmes has joined Capital City Bank as a mortgage account executive. Holmes has been in banking, finance and mortgage lending for 30 years, specializing in conventional, government and first-time homebuying lending. She is currently the director of the board for Middle Georgia Homebuilder’s Association and a member of Middle Georgia Association of Realtors.

Cowan named secretary to boardMarilu Cowan has been named secretary to the Bibb County Civil Service Board. Cowan is Bibb County human resources director.

Perry Chamber gives awardsSonny’s Real Pit Bar-B-Q, owned by Brad Fink, was named the 2008 Small Business of the Year by the Perry Area Chamber of Commerce. The restaurant was chosen from among 12 nominations throughout the year. Karen Thompson was honored by the Perry Chamber as the 2008 Volunteer of the Year. Thompson, employed by The Bank of Perry, has been involved with the chamber the past five years. She has served on the board of directors of the Houston County Exchange Club and Home Builders Association, was involved in Leadership Perry and has served on the chamber’s business development committee.The Seabie Hickson Award was given to the Perry Fire Department for their efforts in responding to the fire that struck downtown Perry in June 2008. The award honors a group of citizens in the Perry area.

Coliseum honors workers for serviceColiseum Medical Centers honored seven outstanding employees for 35 years of service during a reception at the Blacksmith Shop. They included: Norma Banks, Mary Coley, Connie Hartness, Leila Morris, Lindy Peacock, Mildred Scarbrough and Iris Simmons. A total of 125 additional employees also were honored for their years of service.
