Even though an S&K Famous Brands spokesman said last month the retailer didn’t plan to close any stores in Middle Georgia, the situation has changed.
The menswear clothier plans to close its two midstate stores, at 3933 Bloomfield Road in Macon and at 2620 Watson Blvd. in Warner Robins, in the next two to three months, said Brian Kipp, vice president of marketing.
“We’re looking at each property based on its return in terms of our profitability at each store,” Kipp said. “We are constantly looking at those things, and there are certain stores that come up that we need to review again.”
The Macon and Warner Robins stores will close, he said.

“The closing sale is currently in progress and will probably run into late January,” Kipp said. “We don’t have a set closing date, but I would say (they would close) the next two to three months.”
The Richmond, Va.-based company has closed 19 stores this year and currently has about 195 stores, he said.
