The Big Lots store on Gray Highway is closing, but when is not clear.
Signs outside the discount retailer announce a store closing sale, but the store manager referred all questions to the corporate office, which did not return phone calls by late Tuesday.
The Columbus, Ohio-based closeout retailer opened the 30,000-square-foot store at 1340 Gray Highway across the street from Wal-Mart in April 2004.
At that time, company officials said about 20 to 40 employees would work there, depending on the time of year.

In 2003, the company opened a store in Dublin, and in Macon it relocated a store from Eisenhower Parkway to Bloomfield Road. According to the company’s Web site, other midstate stores are in Milledgeville and Warner Robins.
