The signs plastered across the windows of the S&K menswear stores in Middle Georgia do not mean the stores are closing.
The signs proclaim an “inventory reduction sale.”
In fact, the stores in Macon and Warner Robins will remain open, even though the Richmond, Va.-based company is closing some of its stores in Georgia and nationwide, said Bryan Kipp vice president of marketing.
As part of a restructuring plan, the company plans to close by the end of January, 37 stores including the ones in Dalton, Lake Park and Commerce, Kipp said.

The move was necessary in light of the economy and the credit crisis, he said.
“We selected a group of 21 stores (including the Macon and Warner Robins sites) that we are moving merchandise into to run an inventory reduction event,” he said.
“We are not closing those stores anytime in the near future.”
According to the company’s Web site, it operates 220 stores in 26 states.
