Kroger helping midstate food bank

Kroger is offering an environmentally friendly food drive this year.

Beginning this week through the end of December, Kroger grocery stores will give a reusable shopping bag to customers who donate $10 or more to the company’s Can Hunger food drive, according to a news release.

The money will help stock the shelves of the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank, the release stated. Under the theme Reach Out, Reuse and Reduce Hunger, $10 donations will provide more than 10 meals for the hungry.

Kroger customers can also purchase $5 or $1 icons, which represent food, to give to the Can Hunger campaign.

Kroger’s Atlanta Division, which includes Macon, has a goal of raising $350,000 to benefit partner food banks and other nonprofit organizations.

All donations collected in the Macon area will benefit Middle Georgia Community Food Bank, the release stated. Go to www.kroger.com to find a Kroger location.
