Southbound lanes of Interstate 75 in southern Monroe County are now clear following a truck accident Thursday evening.
A band of storms that rolled through Macon and southern Monroe County were blamed for a tractor trailer accident on I-75 around mile marker 181 near Rumble Road. No serious injuries were reported, but multiple cars were involved. All three lanes were blocked following the accident. The lanes were cleared just before 6 p.m.
The severe thunderstorm moved east through Macon after 4 p.m.
Storms have moved east of Macon, but the roads remained rough into Thursday evening.
Traffic lights were reported out on Riverside Drive from Arkwright Road to Wimbish Road and southbound traffic is backed up at the Interstate 75 and Interstate 16 split. Downed power lines and trees were reported in the area.
Several traffic lights are also out along Vineville Avenue.
More than 5,200 Georgia Power customers were without power as of Thursday evening.
