Dense fog advisory expands for much of Middle Georgia

A layer of thick fog is expected to limit visibility to less than a quarter mile for much of southeast Middle Georgia.

The National Weather Service has issued a Dense Fog Advisory until 10 a.m. Wednesday.

The communities affected will be generally south and east of line from Americus to Covington to Homer

The advisory is posted for the following counties: Banks, Barrow, Bibb, Butts, Clarke, Crawford, Greene, Henry, Jackson, Jasper, Jones, Lamar, Macon, Madison, Monroe, Morgan, Newton, Oconee, Oglethorpe, Peach, Pike, Putnam, Rockdale, Schley, Spalding, Sumter, Taliaferro, Taylor, Upson, Walton, Wilkes,Baldwin, Glascock, Hancock, Houston, Jefferson, Twiggs, Warren, Washington, Wilkinson, Bleckley, Crisp, Dodge, Dooly, Emanuel, Johnson, Laurens, Montgomery, Pulaski, Telfair, Toombs, Treutlen, Wheeler, Wilcox, Appling, Atkinson, Bacon, Brantley, Charlton, Clinch, Coastal Camden, Coastal Glynn, Coffee, Echols, Inland Camden, Inland Glynn, Jeff Davis, Pierce, Ware, WayneBulloch, Candler, Coastal Bryan, Coastal Chatham, Coastal Liberty, Coastal McIntosh, Effingham, Evans, Inland Bryan, Inland Chatham, Inland Liberty, Inland McIntosh, Jenkins, Long, Screven and Tattnall.

Drivers are urged to slow down and use extra caution in the limited visibility.
