Macon police charged a man with aggravated assault early Monday morning after he allegedly fired several shots in the parking lot of the Whiskey River nightclub, 4570 Pio Nono Ave., according to a police report.
Tavarous Williams, 27, of Warner Robins, was arrested outside the nightclub after he tried escaping in a vehicle that police later caught. According to the report, an off-duty officer heard shots and tried to get through the throng of people fleeing in panic in the parking lot. After the officer got his shotgun, he tried to stop Williams’ vehicle. Williams ignored the officer’s order to stop and allegedly fired several shots. The officer fired back, and Williams left the vehicle, getting into another car and leaving the scene.
Police eventually caught the vehicle and arrested Williams.
He was taken to the Bibb County jail, where he was later released on $18,650 bond.
