Macon police got a lucky break when debris from the ledge of a broken window linked a burglary suspect to the crime.
Raymond Roger Romback, 52, was arrested early Monday morning after officers responded to a burglar alarm at 765 Walnut St.
Romback, who claimed not to hear the alarm, was outside a neighboring building at about 12:25 a.m., according to a news release from the Macon Police Department.
Romback originally gave his name as Joseph Freeman, but he was no longer a “free man” after officers took him in for questioning.

They noticed dust from the broken window ledge on his clothing and charged him with burglary, criminal trespass, giving a false name and forgery.
Romback, who is reported to be homeless, now has a roof over his head at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.
