Perry approves county-wide safety plan with natural gas providers

“To me, it’s a formality,” said Mayor Jimmy Faircloth. “Because the practices and procedures are already in place.”

City Administrator Lee Gilmour said the Georgia Public Service Commission requires an agreement from every county’s gas providers. The Houston County County-Wide Safety Plan -- between the commission, Perry, Warner Robins, Jointly Owned Natural Gas and Atlanta Gas Light Company -- has been in the works for years and is being finalized, he said. No particular incident led to it being completed now, Gilmour and Faircloth said.

Gilmour said the other agencies have not yet approved the agreement.

Also at Tuesday’s council meeting, ESG Operations Inc. presented a $67,000 rebate check to council for unused contingency funds. ESG Operations maintains Perry’s utilities.
