Macon man shot in the groin while walking

An 18-year-old Macon man was shot in the groin late Sunday night near the intersection of Hillcrest and Courtland avenues, according to a Macon police report.

Tavonta Finny, of Inverness Avenue, told police he was walking west on Hillcrest Avenue between midnight Sunday and 12:35 a.m. Monday when he heard three gunshots. He then felt a burning sensation in his groin and called a friend to take him to The Medical Center of Central Georgia, according to the report.

At the hospital, Finny told police he didn’t see anyone else walking or driving in the area when he heard the shots.

Police took Finny’s clothes for evidence. An officer noted that there was a small bullet hole in his underwear, but there wasn’t a hole in his jeans, according to the report.
