Unionville man robbed at gunpoint

A 19-year-old Unionville man walking home at about 3:30 Thursday morning was robbed by a trio of masked gunmen who stole his cell phone, necklace and $2. One of the bandits whacked him in the back of the head with a handgun.

Terry Franklin told Macon police that the three men walked up to him along Straight Street, a block south of Mercer University Drive, just west of Pio Nono Avenue. “What’s up, cuz?” they asked before demanding that Franklin hand over his cash and belongings.

An incident report noted that Franklin, who wasn’t seriously hurt, “at one point stated he thinks he knows who the suspects are, but would not give further information.”
