Macon police investigate grocery robbery, possible beer heist

Police are looking for the culprits who robbed a south Macon grocery store and investigators are trying to determine if thieves stole the cargo out of a beer truck.

Just before 5:45 a.m. Monday, officers were called to a reported armed robbery at the USA Grocery at 2590 Rocky Creek Road, but it was unclear if the robber was armed as he ran away with a bag.

The thief, who was dressed in black and was wearing a baseball cap backwards, was headed in the direction of Wilshire Woods apartments, police said.

Meanwhile, Macon police officers closer to downtown were investigating the possible theft of a cargo of beer.

A Bud Light tractor trailer with open doors was found at Broadway and Raines Avenue, which is a few blocks south of Eisenhower Parkway.

At about 5 a.m. Monday, investigators were trying to locate the truck’s owner to determine if the vehicle and any contents were stolen.
