Brothers arrested in kidnapping of Macon mother and child

The Macon police SWAT team and the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force freed a Macon woman and her 5-year-old son from the hands of kidnappers Thursday night.

Five gunmen took Lynn Borelli and her son from the 4300 block of Houston Avenue shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday, according to a news release from the Macon Police Department.

While at the Houston Avenue home, one of the men pistol-whipped a 34-year-old Macon man several times, according to a police report released Friday. The kidnappers fled in Borelli’s Isuzu Rodeo and a red Ford Explorer and drove the mother and child to Tara Apartments on Log Cabin Drive.

At about 7 p.m., officers swarmed the apartment, rescued the victims and arrested 23-year-old Brandon Alexander McDowell, who lives at the complex, and 21-year-old Jacoby Terrell McDowell of a Summerhill Drive address.

The McDowell brothers are charged with kidnapping and aggravated assault. Three other gunman remain at large.
