A Bonaire man escaped from a van Thursday after the van veered off Bass Road, down two embankments and onto a railroad track.
Traffic on Bass Road was blocked between Howard Oaks and St. Croix drives for about two hours, said Bibb County sheriff’s Lt. Sean DeFoe.
DeFoe said Bradley Allan Sudekum, 35, was driving on Bass Road toward Forsyth Road about 12:50 p.m. He looked away from the road to glance at a GPS unit, and then his 2012 Dodge Caravan veered off the right side of the road and down the embankments, DeFoe said.
The van flipped onto its roof after striking a railroad track.

Sudekum escaped from the van and called 911 on his cell phone. He was taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia, where he was listed in stable condition.
