GPB Radio has named Adam Ragusea as the new host of “Morning Edition” and site supervisor for GPB Radio Macon -- WMUM 89.7FM.
Ragusea will supervise and manage news interns as well as report on the community, according to a statement from GPB Media.
Ragusea comes to Georgia after four years at WBUR, Boston’s NPR news station, where he was part of a small team that launched a local daily magazine/talk show called “Radio Boston.” As a producer, reporter and occasional host for the program, Ragusea focused on transportation, urban planning, the environment, local history, food, music and art.
“GPB Radio Macon has enormous growth potential as we begin expanding local programming at WMUM with support from the Knight Foundation,” President and Executive Director Teya Ryan said in the statement. “Adam has the experience and enthusiasm to take the station to the next level alongside working in partnership with Mercer University’s Center for Collaborative Journalism to help prepare the next generation of journalists in the new digital age.”
“GPB’s involvement in the Center for Collaborative Journalism offers me the next step I’ve been looking for -- small city journalism based on big ideas,” Ragusea said. “I can’t wait to bring my voice to WMUM, my reporting to the CCJ, and my family to Macon.”
