Suspect arrested in police chase in Peach, Houston counties

Byron police announced late Thursday the arrest of a Warner Robins man after a high-speed chase in Peach and Houston counties Tuesday night.

Clark Joseph Bell, 28, of Warner Robins, was wanted for felony fleeing and attempting to elude, Byron police Lt. Bryan Hunter said in an e-mail.

Byron police attempted to pull over the driver of a 2004 gold Chevrolet Impala, who was later identified as Bell, about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Texaco at 245 Ga. 49 North near the Byron exit of Interstate 75.

He slowed as if about to stop, but then he took off, Hunter said.

A Georgia State Patrol trooper joined and took over the chase, with Byron police assisting, Hunter said.

The 10- to 15-minute chase traveled south down Interstate 75 and through parts of Warner Robins.

Speeds reached 100 to 110 mph during the height of the chase, Hunter said. No one was injured.
