Accused Wal-Mart shoplifter linked to second Bibb gun incident

A Macon man arrested Wednesday morning for allegedly pulling a pellet gun on a Wal-Mart security officer on Zebulon Road has been charged in another shoplifting incident with a gun.

After 29-year-old Richard Todd Conner was booked into the Bibb County jail, investigator Tania Greer pulled up surveillance images of Conner from a November 2011 shoplifting at the Kmart store on Tom Hill Senior Boulevard, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

In that case, Conner is accused of stealing more than $700 in video games and pulling a handgun on three loss prevention officers who retreated to the back of the store.

Conner is charged with a second count of theft by shoplifting and three more aggravated assault charges.

He also faces two counts of giving a false statement to deputies when he was pulled over about 10 minutes after Wednesday’s theft of Blue-Ray DVDs at Wal-Mart.
