A Bibb County judge ruled Thursday that a bond set by a magistrate last week for a 17-year-old Macon resident accused of shooting another teen in the head Christmas Eve was invalid.
Zachery Dewayne Guyton, accused of shooting 18-year-old Quintavious Hutchings in the head at a home on Antioch Road Dec. 24, was taken into custody after the Thursday hearing. Senior Superior Court Judge Tommy Day Wilcox set Guyton’s new bond at $50,000.
Guyton previously had posted a $13,600 bond and been released from jail.
Prosecutors filed a motion last week contending that a magistrate couldn’t set a bond for Guyton because he was out of jail on bond for a burglary charge when he was accused of the shooting. Georgia law requires a Superior Court judge to determine bond amounts in that kind of situation.
