The preliminary unemployment rates for November dropped in Macon and Warner Robins.
The rate in metro Macon decreased to 9.4 percent in November, down from 10 percent in October, according to a news release from the Georgia Department of Labor. The jobless rate in Macon for the same period last year was 10.3 percent.
The rate declined because the number of jobs increased by 1,100, the release stated. Most of the growth was in the private service-related industries, such as retail trade, financial and business services, and leisure and hospitality.
The unemployment rate in metro Warner Robins decreased to 7.2 percent in November, down from 7.7 percent in October, the release stated. The jobless rate in Warner Robins in November 2010 was 7.8 percent.
Metro Athens had the lowest area rate at 6.9 percent, while Dalton had the highest at 11.8 percent.
