While Bibb County school Superintendent Romain Dallemand supports the idea of year-round school, it will not be implemented for the 2012-13 school year.
“There is a great deal of planning that needs to be done to make year-round school happen, and we do not want to rush the process,” Dallemand wrote in the school system’s weekly newsletter, sent out Tuesday morning.
“There are many different models for year-round school that could be used here in Bibb County, and we need to determine which best meets the needs of our students. Once this has been determined, it will take time to fully develop the plan, train our employees and parents, and communicate with the community so that people can plan appropriately.”
In recent months, Dallemand has floated the idea of implementing year-round school in Bibb County with community leaders, along with adding more specialized programs of academic focus, teaching Mandarin Chinese to students and boosting technology.
