ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE -- For the first time since 2003, Robins Air Force Base is not on the Department of Defense’s top 40 list of worst installations for lost civilian production days.
Col. Evan Miller, 402nd Maintenance Wing commander, made the announcement in a news conference on the flight line Friday. He said in 2003 Robins ranked as the worst installation for lost time to injury and health problems. Last year the base ranked 21st, and this year the base came off the top-40 list entirely.
He credited it to a number of initiatives involving the union, health professionals at Robins and in the community and other organizations.
“We’ve made important changes in how we conduct business,” Miller said. “This journey is a combination of efforts to improve the safety culture, focus on an attitude of compliance and actively engage the entire workforce.”
