Eight more Bibb schools make AYP; Howard only Bibb high school to make list
Eight more Bibb County schools made Adequate Yearly Progress compared to the state’s initial report in July, including Howard High School, bringing the total to 23 schools.
The Adequate Yearly Progress designation is used to determine whether schools are meeting standards under the federal No Child Left Behind Act by looking at test participation, academic achievement and other indicators, such as the attendance or graduation rates at a school.
The other schools making AYP after factoring in summer test results were Barden, Brookdale, Bruce, Riley and Williams elementary schools, as well as Bloomfield and Howard middle schools.
Other Bibb schools that made AYP in July were Alexander II, Appling Middle, Bernd Elementary, Carter Elementary, Hartley Elementary, Heard Elementary, Heritage Elementary, Ingram-Pye Elementary, Lane Elementary, Miller Middle, Morgan Elementary, Porter Elementary, Skyview Elementary, Springdale Elementary and Vineville Academy.
Howard High is the only high school in the system to make AYP.
