WARNER ROBINS -- An armed robber was shot after shooting a Warner Robins man outside of his home early Thursday, police said.
Both the victim, 54-year-old Ramesh Patel, and the gunman, Albert Lewis McElrath, 21, of Macon, were in stable condition at different hospitals Thursday, according to a Warner Robins police news release.
Patel was confronted by a man, later identified by police as McElrath, outside his home at 101 Rolling Woods Circle near Corder Road at 2:54 a.m. Thursday. McElrath robbed Patel of an undisclosed amount of cash, shot him in the knee and then fled on foot, according to the release.
Meanwhile, 28-year-old Paresh Patel heard his father’s cries for help, ran out of the home and shot the suspect as he was fleeing. No charges are expected against the son, the release stated.
The father was taken to Houston Medical Center, where he remained hospitalized Thursday, the release stated.
McElrath was later located at The Medical Center of Central Georgia, where he remained hospitalized Thursday for a gunshot wound to the upper body, the release stated.
McElrath was charged with aggravated assault, armed robbery, aggravated battery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, the release stated.
